An update for everyone on Dad's condition: He is awake, alert, and even joking a bit. The ventilator has been removed. Dr. Corry said the major concern now is the onset of pneumonia. When someone is split wide open like that, he said that is what we need to watch for. He could not detect any leakage, so that is great. It was a real effort for Dad to talk this morning, so when you go to visit, keep it short. The ICU rules are only 2 people at a time in his room, and they kick everyone out between 5 and 7:30 a.m. and p.m. He is doing amazingly well! Thanks for everyone's prayers.

The beginning of something wonderful

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to get this blog started! I think it's going to make our lives a lot easier and help us keep in touch. We have such a wonderful family, but it's getting so large that it's hard to keep track of what everyone is doing.
Any time you have an announcement, picture, something that someone in your family has accomplished, or you just want to say hi, just post it here so we can all share in your happiness. We want to know what's going on. If you're unsure of how to add a post (I'll admit it takes some getting used to) then feel free to call or email me (clarissa.chamberlain@gmail.com) and I'll take you through the process. You can also ask many other people in the family--I know there's a lot of you who have amazing blogs (Jenny, Alex, Brittany, Bonnie,...).
